SMS Central acquires Blue Central Mobility

It is with great excitement that today I officially announce the acquisition of Australian tier 1 messaging aggregator, Blue Central Mobility (BCM) by SMS Central.

Why BCM and why now?

In the last 2 years, since the original acquisition of SMS Central by Domenic Carosa and myself in December 2009, our team has worked tirelessly to deliver the industry leading messaging applications, customer care and reliability you have become accustomed to. SMS Central has consolidated its position in the Australian mobile messaging and mobile payment industry, on the back of our unrelenting vision of continuing to deliver the simplest and most transparent experience you could ask for in a messaging partner. We do this for Australian businesses as diverse as the local doctor or fish and chip shop to some of the world’s best known brands and government agencies. With our strong foothold in the Australian enterprise messaging market, and a solid position in the premium billing market, we decided that SMS Central was now in the right place to accelerate our development and growth, towards becoming Australia’s number 1 messaging provider. That’s when the decision to bring BCM into the SMS Central family became a no-brainer if 2012 was to be our “leap year”.

BCM has been one of Australia’s largest providers in the premium messaging market, with direct relationships with all major Australian and New Zealand carriers, perfectly complementing our current strengths and market position. The team at BCM have the same passion and desire about the Australian messaging market as our young and dynamic team at SMS Central, so we are really happy to have the BCM team come aboard. BCM’s General Manager, Daniel Balfour, joins us as our new Chief Commercial Officer. Daniel will contribute a great level of industry experience and knowledge, towards SMS Central’s plans to become Australia’s number 1 messaging provider.

What this means for you

It is important for us that all the decisions we undertake as a business provide our customers and partners with continual benefit and value. So whether you are one of our SMS or PSMS customers (or maybe even both!), the shorter version of this long story is: THIS IS AWESOME news.

In the end, we joined forces with BCM because we know this will bring great advantages for our customers. These include:

1. Stronger direct messaging capabilities with all Australian carriers (Telstra, Optus and VHA) as well as New Zealand’s carriers (Telecom, Vodfone and 2degrees) across both our messaging and premium billing businesses. This means less intermediaries and therefore, better reliability for you.

2. SMS Central has now become one of the largest providers in the enterprise messaging and premium SMS solutions space in Australia. So if you’re after additional value added services beyond the standard but powerful SMS, we are now in a position to offer you the best solutions and expertise. Ever!

3. (my favourite) We now have an even more kick-ass line-up, with a stronger support and development team, as well as a rock-solid sales and account management crew.

4. We continue our company expansion with the opening of our new Sydney office located in the centre of the city, on York St.

All in all, this is exciting news for you and for us. Ultimately, we want to continue to grow SMS Central steadily and consistently across both the Australian and New Zealand Markets, with the priority of making sure we continue to deliver the same care and service you love us for.
