SMS and CPR volunteers can save lives

SMS being instant and awesome makes it an asset when it comes to health comms. In Sweden, SMSlifesaver has started something we deem huge.

SMS may prevent cardiac arrests Say you or somebody you know is having a heart attack. You call emergency services. The operator not only dispatches an ambulance, but via SMSlifesaver, sends an SMS to CPR trained volunteers within 500 metres from your place to get CPR started earlier.

The awesomesauce is that it looks like in 54% of cases these volunteers are reaching victims before ambulances.

Check out David Fredman from SMSlifesaver explain how it all works in this video interview.
