This is a bit of a stretch, but remember the good ol’ days of “Dear Valued Customer”? Well, the times they are a-changin and customers EXPECT you to talk to them, not at them.
So when you send an SMS with a generic message, customers are less likely to remember it later or even acknowledge it.
However, just by adding a simple “Hi Anna”, she’ll feel unique and will respond differently to the message and your brand.
#2 Personalisation increases conversion
Like we shared in a previous post, all successful web SMS campaigns have a call to action. By personalising the content, your conversions (in other words, people responding to that call to action) will immediately increase.
A clear example: imagine you go to a store and bought some vitamins. Which one are you more likely to respond to?
“DISCOUNT AT STORE TODAY ONLY. SHOW THIS SMS AND WE’LL TAKE 30% OFF YOUR VITAMINS.”
“Hi Jenny, your last vitamins purchase was over a month ago. Come to the store today, show this SMS, purchase them and we’ll take 30% OFF. Valid only for today”.
