Short Message Peer-to-Peer (SMPP)

Welcome to SMS Central’s SMPP API. By reading on you’ll find all the details you’ll need to use SMS Central’s SMPP interface for sending SMS messages.

The Short Message Peer-to-Peer (SMPP) is the leading telecommunications protocol for SMS echange between Short Message Service Centers (SMSC) and External Short Messaging Entities (ESME).

SMS Central supports the industry standard SMPP V3.4 protocol. The V3.4 SMPP protocol version allows transceiver support – these are single connections that can both send and receive messages.

As a level-7 TCP/IP protocol, SMPP allows for fast delivery of SMS messages and is therefore recommended for customers who plan to send large volumes of messages each month.

Benefits of SMPP

SMPP has a number of features (or benefits) essential to SMS including, but not limited to:

- Instant delivery

- High volume messaging

- Short code usage

- Delivery status reports

- Support to users

SMPP provides benefits to businesses that need to manage large distribution lists and campaigns and do so with the peace of mind that each message will hit the right target, on time. This, with all the additional features you would demand of an SMS messaging service.
